4th Quarter: Week 1

Hello!

Welcome back for 4th quarter! I hope you all had a fun and restful Spring Break! My parents came to visit from Michigan and we had a great time laying by the pool and enjoying the weather! I'm looking forward to a fun and productive 4th quarter. Here are some dates to keep in mind as we move through the quarter:
  • March 28 (next Wednesday) - AIMS Science test (4th Grade only)
  • March 30 (next Friday) - No School, Spring Holiday
  • April 5th (Thursday) - Archway Lincoln’s Spring Concert
    • At Higley Center for the Performing Arts
    • K-2 is from 5:30-6:30 pm
    • 3-5 is from 7-8 pm
Academic Overview:

On Monday, we will start Carry On, Mr. Bowditch in Literature. Please see the sidebar for a link to the book, if you have not yet bought it. This week the students will write a diary section and an opinion paragraph. We will also discuss superstitions.

This week in Math, we are starting a new unit on Geometry. We will learn about different types of lines and angles and learn how to measure angles. Please have your child bring in a protractor; we will begin using them on Friday.

In preparation for the AIMS Science test next week, we will review many of the areas we have studied so far this year in science. We will also introduce forms of energy and conservation.

This week in history we are continuing our study of Arizona. We will focus on the transition of Arizona from territory to state. We will also examine the 5c's and other factors that led to the settlement of the Arizona territory.

Have a great week!
